Jordan Band's final Competition of the season is Saturday, November 5^th at Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs NC. I can't believe this is the final competition for us this year! This is a prelims and finals event and is a tremendous opportunity for us to perform for an exceptional panel of judges and to see bands from different parts of NC and other states. We are due to perform at 1:45p and it takes roughly 4 hours to get to Boiling Springs. All students must be at JHS at 6:00am. Please eat something before you arrive as we may not have a chance to eat a full meal until after we perform. We will be departing Jordan by 7:00am via Coach Buses. I would expect to arrive at Gardner Webb University by 11:00am. We are in class 2A and our performance time is scheduled for 1:45pm with our warm up time being 12:15pm. We will be supplying a small energy/breakfast bar snack when we arrive. We will have approximately 1 hour to get dressed before warm up so again, there is no time for concessions before we perform. After we perform, the students may enjoy a nice lunch. Also, this year we decided to cook dinner for the students. Last year, we made finals and tried to eat at the neighboring "restaurants" which was not very successful not enjoyable. We are asking for $5 in order to cook a warm, home cooked meal. We will enjoy this meal after prelims awards, whether we make finals or not.

Another important aspect of this show is that tickets are $10 for prelims and $10 for finals. The stadium will be emptied and tickets will be resold (again for $10) in order to see finals. While this may be a surprise for all of us, please keep in mind that this event is sponsored by Carolina Crown and is a fundraiser for them. Yes, it is a performance for us and our children, but Carolina Crown views this as a fundraiser for their Drum Corps first and foremost. We purchased combo tickets for both prelims and finals ahead of time and are selling them for $15. If we do not make finals, we will come home immediately following prelims awards and our dinner. The awards ceremony should conclude around 5:30pm. Our arrival home will depend on whether we make finals or not. Please bring extra warm clothes as fall is in full swing and we will be outside for a good portion of the day. Last year, it snowed!! I will have the students begin the phone chain toughly 20 minutes before our arrival at Jordan.
