Jordan High Marching Band Reminders and Updates
Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Hello everyone,

The first week of band camp has started very smoothly. The students have been quite cooperative – and so have the parents! Thanks to everyone for completing forms and sending dues in a timely fashion. This puts us in the unique position of being able to order equipment and supplies, support the upcoming activities of the band and operate effectively and efficiently this year.

Reminders for this week:

• Fittings for shoes and gloves will be held on Wednesday, July 30. (Fees (see below) must be paid at the time of fitting. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, money orders or checks. Checks should be made out to "The Band Room." All prices include NC sales tax and shipping charges.

o Shoes - $35.00
o White Deluxe Cotton Gloves - $3.00
o White Deluxe Sure Grip Gloves - $3.50
o Tan CG Paws (Guard) Gloves - $14.00
o Tan Talon (Guard) Gloves - $13.00

• We were fortunate to have one-gallon water jugs* donated to each member of the band. They should be filled with ice water prior to arrival each morning. Additional tips for band camp have been compiled by Mr. Weiss in the list of band camp survival tips. They are listed on the website at http://www.jordanband.org/Band Camp Survival Tips.htm.

• A pool party will be held for the students on Friday, August 1, at the Garrett Farms pool from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Each student is asked to pay $5.00 to cover the costs of pizza, drinks and lifeguards. If you are planning to go to the pool party, please give your section leader $5.00 on Thursday or Friday.

Upcoming for next week

• Volunteers are still needed for the second week of band camp. Contact Debbie Alberti  or 544.4720 (home) 649.7338 (mobile) if you can assist.

• A potluck will be held on Friday, August 8 after the annual Parent Night Performance. Information on food donations will be available next week.

Support our supporters

* Please thank and support the owners of Dream Dinners in Sutton Station, Mike and Robin Stanaway, for their generous contribution of $200.00 towards the purchase of the water jugs. We will conduct a fall fund-raiser with Dream Dinners again this year and this will be a fabulous way to show additional support. More info as the date draws near.
