Jordan High Marching Band Reminders and Updates
Monday, December 1, 2008

We trust that each of you had a fabulous Thanksgiving.

Parade

The band will participate in the Parkwood Holiday Parade on Sunday Dec. 7th. The parade begins at 2 pm.  Students will meet at JHS at 12 noon and will need to arrive at Parkwood by 1:15 pm. Since activity buses will not be used, students will need to carpool to Parkwood. Additionally, we will not have a truck to transport equipment; thus, parents are needed to transport instruments to Parkwood. Please contact Roger Fortman (Roger_Fortman@hotmail.com) if you can help with the transportation of instruments.

THANKS

  • To Julie Krenzer who applied for a $1000 grant through IBM.  The application was accepted and the grant was awarded to the JHS band!
  • Everyone who donated/assisted/participated in the potluck.

Citrus Sale

The Florida Indian River Fruit Sale ends this week.  All orders are due on Wednesday, December 3. This is the band's largest annual fundraiser. We hope that everyone will surpass their previous years' sales.  To meet the budget goal set by the booster board, all members are asked to sell a minimum of 8 boxes.  Fruit is expected to be delivered to JHS on Saturday, December 13.  Students are required to assist with unloading the truck… more on that later.

Honey Baked Ham

We are selling Honey Baked Ham Gift Certificates available in denominations of $10, $25, $35, and $50.   These can be used at any Honey Baked store in the US, making them great for holiday gifts!  The band will receive 20% of all certificates sold.  Order forms will be in the band room, along with menus.  There will also be an order form on the band web page.   Orders should be in by Wednesday, Dec. 10.  Gift certificates should be distributed on Monday, Dec 15.   Any questions, e-mail Julie Krenzer-Frybarger at fryguys@nc.rr.com.

Mary Kay Satin Hands

Looking for other gift ideas?   We are selling gift sets of Mary Kay Satin Hands for $30, with 50% of the sale going to the band.  This is a great way to support your band and get your holiday shopping done! You may send your order in to the band room, or contact Marva Hicks at marvapam@aol.com, or 452-7024.

Goodsearch

We want to remind students, families and friends to use the GoodSearch charity search engine to help raise funds for the band all year long. Searches and purchases made on GoodSearch earn funds for the JHS band account. Set your homepage to GoodSearch and/or remember to use it when performing searches or making purchases. We earn 1 penny per search and can also earn up to 37% of purchases made using Goodshop (goodsearch), depending on the vendor. Consider doing your online holiday shopping using Goodshop and raise money for the band at the same time. Visit http://www.goodsearch.com/ for details of the program and to see all of the vendors represented.
