new in this mailing: Band competitions (Cary Band Day), 8^th and 9^th grade band nights

this week

• Oct 22: Eight Grade Band Night  5:00 – 6:30 in the band room. This is an opportunity to show the offerings of our JHS band program for current 8^th graders at Githens and Roger-Herr.  Encourage 8^th grade families at these schools to attend.  A copy of the letter to the 8^th grade band directors has been posted to our website.
• Oct 24: Capital City Band Expo at Sanderson High in Raleigh, NC (http://www.sandersonband.com/).  This show has a preliminary and finals format. The Marching Falcons are scheduled for an 11 am Jordan arrival and a 4 pm performance in the prelims. This competition also signals the traditional after-performance meal at Fat Daddy's on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.  Please check the website for details.

There is no home football game this week, so come on out Saturday and see the performance!

• The annual Citrus Sale is scheduled to begin this week.  Check with your students for information and order forms.

Next week

• Oct. 26-28: Omega Sports will hold "JHS Band Appreciation Days" from 9 am – 9 pm each day. Patrons presenting the flyer will receive 10% off their purchase and a portion of the proceeds will go to the band program. Be sure to print the flyer from the Jordan Band website. (Note: no school on Oct. 26.)
• Oct. 27: TCBY at Homestead Market will donate 10% of the entire day's sales to the band program! No flyer is required. Stop in from 7 pm – 8 pm to see our very own – Shaina and Hope – as Celebrity Scoopers!
• Oct. 29: 9^th Grade Band Night 5:00 – 6:30 in the band room. This is an opportunity for 9^th grade band students to see the different sections and perform alongside the band. Students must bring their instruments.  A copy of the letter to 9^th grade families has been posted to the website.
• Oct. 31: Cary Band Day in Cary, NC.  More information will be provided in the next mailing. http://www.caryband.org/band_day/cbd.shtml
