Flap Jack Fundraiser
Mmmmmmmmmm – pancakes and sausage. And you don’t
even have to get your kitchen dirty – what a deal!!!! Saturday, August 28 is
the flap jack fundraiser at Applebees in Brier Creek from 8 – 10 AM. Tickets
are $7 per plate. Look for an e-mail with an order form to order advanced
tickets. We’d like each band student to sell at least 5 tickets – hopefully
that won’t be too difficult as they’ll want to eat as well as
parents/siblings/aunts/uncles/grandparents, etc. We’ll also need band students
to volunteer to work at the event – you must be at least 16 to work. Parents –
this is living proof that your band student can actually clean dishes off the
table – not only do you want to attend, you might also want to bring a camera!
Questions – please contact Lauren Ciepial at
lauren.cierpial@gte.net.
Dog Tags
As Mr. Weiss announced earlier, band students will
get dog tags to commemorate the show. They may order a personalized tag
honoring a member of the military. Family members and friends may also order
dog tag sets for $3 each. Mr. Weiss wants to order these by Aug. 27 so please
contact him at
Andrew.weiss@dpsnc.net
as soon as possible. Please provide him with the following information for the
tag – your name, e-mail address, how many tags being ordered, name and rank of
service member, branch of military, service dates (e.g. – ’03 – ’06). You may
send your money in with your student to be given to Drew Stutts.
Show Shirts
All band students will receive show shirts.
Family members and friends who would also like them may order them. Mr. Weiss
is placing an order on Monday – if you’d like your shirt to wear to the first
home football game, you’ll need to have your order to him by Monday, August.
23rd. We will be placing a second order a little later.
Graduates – we need your shoes!!!
Since students will be marching in the old
uniforms for at least the first few football games, we need to round up as many
pairs of WHITE marching shoes as possible. If you are a graduate (or know a
recent band graduate) and are willing to donate your shoes, please bring them to
Jordan before the first football game.
Rehearsals
After school starts, rehearsals will be held from
4 - 7 PM every Tuesday and Thursday.
Volunteers Needed
Laundry
Teenagers/sweaty uniforms --- are you getting a
picture? We need some additional brave people to sign up to help wash uniforms
after games and competitions. Please – I’m begging you – there’s not enough
Febreeze in the world to fix this!!!! We could use another 10-15 volunteers.
The more people we get to sign up, the fewer times each person will have to help
out. Please sign up at:

Chaperones for competitions
We’re doing pretty well on football games – we
could use more help on competitions. Please consider signing up – think of it
as a chance to observe your band student in their native habitat….
